Eggnog Ice Cream recipe

Eggnog gives a fun holiday feel to a basic ice cream recipe. It would be great to top pumpkin or pecan pie, or even with a splash of bourbon on top. Makes 1 quart.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cups eggnog
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons brandy or bourbon

Directions:

  1. Combine milk and sugar in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.

  2. Remove from heat and add all the other ingredients.

  3. Place in a bowl and refrigerate until very cold, a few hours at least.

  4. Freeze in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  5. For a firm texture transfer to containers and freeze overnight.
